Downfall
Just finished watching Downfall (Der Untergang), an amazing movie about Adolf Hitler’s last days. Great acting, well written. I had no idea about the bunker he had built for him: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F%C3%BChrerbunker
Sarah’s Mom
Taken during dinner at the Boathouse in Forest Park.
New Music!
I’ve been listening to some new music. Some of it has just been released and some of it is new to me.
Interpol‘s Our Love to Admire: I really, really like this album. In some ways I think it’s stronger than Antics. I haven’t made it through the entire album but track 6 (Pace Is The Trick) and track 7 (All Fired Up) are great tracks. It’s more of the same Interpol recipe but a little more mature.
Mark Ronson‘s Version: This is a fun album with covers of Britney Spear’s Toxic, The Charlatan’s The Only One I Know, Radiohead’s Just and more but with horns and a more upbeat sound added. It doesn’t have a great deal of repeat listenability.
Pharoahe Monch‘s Desire: My friend Ben Ricker introduced me to Pharoahe Monch and I love it. More than half the album is great with the remaining tracks being good but not my style.
Yeah Yeah Yeah‘s Is Is EP: Fun fun fun. Rockers To Swallow rocks, the rest of he songs are great. I love the beat in Rockers To Swallow.
Air‘s Pocket Symphony: Good stuff, standard Air album. Nothing jumps out at me yet as “amazing” but Lost Message gets close. More listening needed. Even if this album isn’t great I had to have it..
The Chemical Brothers’ We Are The Night: I was expecting that this would be like The Chemical Brothers’ last 20 albums but I think they’ve moved ever so slightly to a more fresh sound. I really like it.
Gogol Bordello‘s Super Taranta!: I love Gogol Bordello, endless energy coupled with accordian accordian and fiddle make for fun, infinitely listenable music. This album kicks it up a notch. My favorite in all the albums I bought.
